What's New in Corning Vacuum Filters

Same catalog numbers, much better performance

• The most visible change is a new square filter membrane support system that increases filtration rates.
• Improved, higher capacity Polyethersulfone (PES) membranes maximize filter throughput.
• Together the new square filter supports with the improved PES membranes increase filtering performance by up to 44% depending on the filter funnel size:
   

  Times required to vacuum filter 500mL (left graph) and 1L (right graph) of RPMI 1640 medium containing 10% calf serum through 0.22 um pore Corning 500mL and 1L PES filters. A 44% improvement in filter performance was also found using a 250mL vacuum filter (Data not shown).

• The new filters are also available with cellulose acetate, cellulose nitrate and nylon membranes in the same pore sizes as before.
